Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Also known as DEI, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is described by McKinsey as, "three closely linked values held by many organizations that are working to be supportive of different groups of individuals, including people of different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations."
Our workshop delivers a complete understanding of DEI, including definitions of each of its three segments and the categories within each, along with procedures and methods for implementing DEI into the workplace, project managing the transition, and teaching DEI to other staff members. Although many people might think first about concepts like pronoun choice or fostering a more diverse workplace, there are many other DEI components and practices to consider, such as the choice of colors and fonts in PowerPoint presentations (bright colors can trigger migraines), making closed captioning and simultaneous translation available in video chat meetings, and adjusting workloads and deadlines around the needs of people with alternate abilities and work-from-home arrangements. Also included in the course are issues around acceptance - ensuring people feel that they are in a safe, respectful environment, as well as managing those who oppose or fear what DEI represents.
This is a course that carries a great deal of emotional and legal weight. We have designed it carefully to include clear, widely agreed-upon definitions and protocols, case studies, how-to's, and reference material.
